Peabody Terrace Children’s Center Renovation Project

Harvard University is performing a full renovation of the Peabody Terrace Children’s Center located in Buildings D and F. Residents will begin seeing workers entering the Children’s Center to make preparations for this project starting the week of Monday, July 18th, with plans to begin construction on Monday, July 25th. Project completion is currently targeting the end of January 2023.

Project Schedule & Details:
• Project work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• All building entries will remain accessible during this project.
• The parking space next to the bicycle rack will be fenced in to accommodate a dumpster and some construction materials. The bike rack will not be impacted and will remain available to residents.
• Seven parking spaces designated for the Children’s Center will be coned off to accommodate construction vehicles for the duration of the project.
• During project hours, the renovation work will generate intermittent noise at times in Buildings D and F due to the use of construction equipment and power tools needed to perform this work.
• Please note – the demolition of interior partitions and walls during the week of July 25th is expected to generate noise.
• Dust and odors from this work are expected to be minimal and will be contained within the Children’s Centers.

Construction Mitigation Efforts:
• Deliveries will arrive via Banks Street and Akron Street, but not before 8:00 a.m. Children’s Center deliveries will be directly to their entrances at Buildings D and F.
• The contractor’s work crew will not use the buildings’ elevators.
• Smoking will not be permitted on the property and the work crew will not use the buildings’ common area bathrooms.
• Every contractor working at Harvard University has prepared a COVID-19 Health and Safety Plan consistent with the requirements set forth by the City of Cambridge and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Contractors are required to strictly adhere to their Health and Safety Plan, which includes guidelines regarding health monitoring, the use of personal protective equipment, and routine cleaning of tools and high-touch surfaces.
