As part of the district energy strategy for The Harvard Science and Engineering Complex (SEC) project, a utility crossing is required to serve the proposed new building. This crossing will run across Rotterdam Street between the new District Energy Facility (DEF) and the new Science and Engineering Complex.
The team will be installing distribution piping to connect the 55,000 SF District Energy Facility, which will house energy production, energy conversion, and energy distribution equipment, to the new Science and Engineering Complex and beyond into Harvard’s new Allston Innovation Corridor. To connect the Energy Facility to the Allston Campus, the team must install distribution piping below Rotterdam Street, which will result in traffic impacts for approximately two (2) months.
The crossing began in mid-September 2018 and is planned to be completed in November of 2018.
