Designed by architect Benjamin Thompson and completed in 1976, Soldiers Field Park (SFP) is managed by Harvard University Housing and is comprised of four apartment buildings.
The SFP complex is undergoing a multi-phase, multi-year renovation of its buildings and the surrounding grounds. The renovation project includes a full renewal and modernization of the apartments, common areas, and landscape, as well as a full renewal of all unit interiors with premium modern finishes, reconfiguration of units including the addition of in-unit bathrooms to better align with the needs of contemporary residents, replacement of all windows and building systems including plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, reconfiguration and renewal of the landscaping and pedestrian pathways, creation of a large centralized amenity area in Building 2 featuring a children’s play area for residents, fitness/yoga center, lounge, conference space, and a community room.
Building 1 is the fourth and final phase of this project. Enabling work began in January 2020 and construction began in June 2020. The project is scheduled for completion in August 2021.
- The sidewalks on Kresge Way adjacent to Building 1 are closed for the duration of the project.
- Heavy trucks continue to enter the area via the One Western Ave Service Drive and Kresge Way.
- All access to Kresge Way and the Chao loading dock area is coordinated with HBS.
- Trucks are staged at the old CSX site.
The project is targeting LEED Gold certification for each of its four phases.
