Week of September 3, 2024

The following summarizes the work planned on the Adams House Phase 3 renovation for the week of September 3. Please note that items in BOLD are expected to generate some noticeable noise.

PUBLIC WAY IMPACTS:

  1. Continuous deliveries and dumpster swaps will occur throughout the week.
  2. Water Service work is paused until September 9. Water shutdown has been coordinated with the City of Cambridge for the night of September 9 into September 10 starting at 12:00AM until 4AM.
  3. Repairs to the tunnel roof from Randolph Hall to Russell Hall will require the contractor to close Plympton Street to through traffic starting on August 12 at all times for approximately one month. Local traffic seeking access to the parking lots off Plympton Street will be able to access Plympton by driving the opposite way down the street from Mass Ave. A police detail will be on site to assist.

EXTERIOR SITE ACTIVITIES:

  1. Masonry work on the exterior façade will continue to take place for all buildings.
  2. Masonry rebuild for the Russell Hall & Westmorly chimney’s will continue. A crane is scheduled for Thursday, September 5 to install Chimney caps on Russell Hall.
  3. Installation on the window bays at the east elevation of Westmorly remains ongoing.
  4. Window frame repairs remain ongoing at Westmorly & Russell Hall.
  5. Concrete placement scheduled for Friday, September 6. A Pump truck will be within the site fence for this work.
  6. Russell Hall Chimney scaffolding will be dismantled at the beginning of next week.
  7. A hoist will be operating while the site is open.
  8. On weekdays the lift will operate 7:00am-3:30pm

INTERIOR ACTIVITIES:

  1. Interior framing and drywall continues to progress in Westmorly & Russell Hall.
  2. Mechanical contractors will continue with the installation of new systems in Westmorly & Russell Hall.
  3. Permanent steel erection is progressing within Russell Hall and Westmorly.
  4. Spray fireproofing continues inside Russell Hall.
  5. Floor prep installation will continue inside Russell Hall.

SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH IMPACTS:

  1. Masonry work will continue adjacent to 9 Bow and 22 Plympton.
  2. Material for masonry and carpentry will load in via rear lot.
  3. Spray foam insulation truck will be parked within site fence to facilitate spray foam insulation within Westmorly

WORK HOURS:

  1. Tuesday-Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm
  2. Job site will be closed on Monday, September 2 for Labor Day.
  3. Saturday, September 7 – 9:00am to 4:00pm
