Week of June 23, 2025

The following summarizes the work planned for the New FAS Building for the week of June 23. Please note that items in BOLD are expected to generate some noticeable noise or impacts. 

Dates: 6/23/25-6/27/25

PUBLIC WAY IMPACTS:

  • New site fence, barriers, scrim, and signage will be installed per the project logistics plan. All new pedestrian detours will be clearly marked with signage.
  • A new construction entrance will be installed between Hemenway Gymnasium and Gannett House off of Massachusetts Ave.
  • A new walkway will be installed alongside Gannett House to assist with access to building throughout construction.

EXTERIOR SITE ACTIVITIES:

  • WL French and Riggs continues installing the construction site fence, barriers, scrim, and signage to establish the perimeter of the project. Noise impacts from the equipment used to install the fence fabric.  
  • WL French continues installing the new construction entrance between Hemenway Gymnasium and Gannett House and a new walkway to the south of Gannett House.  Noise and vibration impacts from equipment used for this operation. There will also be some odor from the asphalt installation during this work.
  • Riggs will continue installing a new fence adjacent to Gannett Hall. Minimal noise impacts from this operation.
  • After the installation of the perimeter site fence, WL French will begin clearing the site and removing old utilities. Noise impacts from this operation from equipment and trucking.

OTHER IMPACTS:

  • There will be multiple construction vehicles entering and existing the site. All equipment will be entering and exiting the site from the Cambridge Street construction entrance until the new entrance is established off Massachusetts Ave.
  • A temporary vehicle turnaround is available behind the Jefferson Lab and signage will be posted directing delivery drivers to follow the pedestrian paths to the buildings abutting this project.
  • Please note that delivery and service vehicles cannot drive into the construction zone. Project abutters should alert their vendors to this change in advance whenever possible.

WORK HOURS:

  • Monday – Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. 
  • No plan to work Saturday, June 28 at this time.
