The following summarizes the work planned for the new FAS building for the week of August 25, 2025:
Dates: 8/25/25-8/30/25
PUBLIC WAY IMPACTS:
- The site fence will remain in its current location. Wayfinding signage has been installed around the site and at the Jefferson turnaround to assist vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, and delivery drivers. A sign has been installed at the SEAS lot announcing the permanent closure of the Littauer parking lot to prevent vehicles from driving further into the SEAS lot looking for parking if drivers don’t have a SEAS parking permit.
EXTERIOR SITE ACTIVITIES:
- Treviicos will continue installing secant piles with two operational drill rigs. The crew will continue along the southern end of the site with one drill rig in front of Littauer Center, while the second drill rig continues along the eastern end of the site in front of Music Building. The rigs will be moving around the site continuously. A mobile crane will be used to assist this operation. Concrete trucks will be on site for this operation as well as trailers to haul out the material from the drilling. There will also be a steel delivery truck on site during the week. Abutters can expect some noise and possible vibration impacts from this operation.
- WL French will continue supporting the secant operation by loading and hauling soils throughout the week. Noise and possible vibration impacts can be expected from this operation.
OTHER IMPACTS:
- There will be multiple construction vehicles entering and existing the site. Equipment and trucking will continue using the construction entrance off Massachusetts Avenue between Gannett House and Hemenway Gymnasium in conjunction with the existing construction entrance onto Cambridge Street (between Gannett and Littauer).
- The buildings and utilities are being monitored 24/7 for conformance with specified vibration tolerances.
- Harvard Law School will be hosting an event on Holmes Field on September 12-14 weekend. PEAK will be setting up for the event with traffic flowing through the SEAS parking lot starting on August 25. An increase in delivery trucks is to be expected.
WORK HOURS:
- Monday – Friday 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- No plan to work Saturday, 8/30, 25, at this time.
