Week of September 22, 2025

The following summarizes the work planned for the new FAS building for the week of September 22, 2025:


Dates: 9/22/25 – 9/26/25

PUBLIC WAY IMPACTS:

  • The site fence will remain in its current location. Wayfinding signage has been installed around the site and at the Jefferson turnaround to assist vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, and delivery drivers.

EXTERIOR SITE ACTIVITIES:

  • Treviicos will continue installing secant piles with two operational drill rigs. One drill rig will be working along the southern and western ends of the site in front of Littauer and towards Gannett Hall. The second drill rig will be working along the eastern and northern ends of the site in front of the Music Building, Jefferson and Austin Hall. The rigs will be moving around the site continuously. A mobile crane will be used to assist this operation. Concrete trucks will be on site for this operation as well as trailers to haul out the material from the drilling. Noise and possible vibration impacts can be expected from this operation.
  • WL French will continue supporting the secant operation by loading and hauling soils throughout the week. Abutters can anticipate noise and possible vibration impacts from this operation.
  • WL French will begin excavating along the interior of the secant pile wall and removing the concrete on the secant pile wall for the installation of bracing seats. Noise and possible vibration impacts can be expected from this operation.
  • Treviicos will begin installing waler seats, walers and corner bracing on the interior of the secant pile wall. Some noise impacts can be expected from this operation.

OTHER IMPACTS:

  • There will be multiple construction vehicles entering and existing the site. Equipment and trucking will continue using the construction entrance off Massachusetts Avenue between Gannett House and Hemenway Gymnasium in conjunction with the existing construction entrance onto Cambridge Street (between Gannett and Littauer).
  • The buildings and utilities are being monitored 24/7 for conformance with specified vibration tolerances.

WORK HOURS:

  • Monday through Friday – 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • The contractor does not have plans to work Saturday, September 20, at this time.
  • The contractor is planning to work Saturday, September 27, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
