The following summarizes the work planned for the new FAS building for the week of December 15, 2025:
Dates: 12/15/25 – 12/19/25
PUBLIC WAY IMPACTS:
- The site fence will remain in its current location. Wayfinding signage has been installed around the site and at the Jefferson turnaround to assist vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, and delivery drivers.
EXTERIOR SITE ACTIVITIES:
- French and Treviicos will continue excavating and installing lagging and bracing for the steam tunnel support work. The excavation work will be done with a vacuum truck. Noise impacts can be expected due to the vacuum truck from this operation.
- French will continue excavating inside the secant wall under the bracing. Some noise impacts from this operation can be anticipated.
- S&F will continue forming and installing reinforcement for the tower crane footing and mat foundation slabs. There will be a crane and multiple delivery trailers on site to support this work. Noise impacts from this operation can be expected.
- S&F will be placing concrete for the tower crane footing. There will be a concrete pump truck and multiple concrete trucks on site for this operation. Noise impacts can be expected from this operation.
- The waterproofing company will be in site to begin installing the waterproofing for the foundations. No noise impacts are expected from this operation.
- JC Higgins will be on site to install the plumbing pipe in the mat foundations. No noise impacts are expected from this operation.
- Please note: the erection of the tower crane is scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday, December 20-21, from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. There will be a crane on site and multiple trailer deliveries for this operation. Noise impacts are expected from this operation. The contractor is working with the City to acquire the necessary permits to work after hours and on Sunday.
OTHER IMPACTS:
- There will be multiple construction vehicles entering and existing the site. Equipment and trucking will continue using the construction entrance off Massachusetts Avenue between Gannett House and Hemenway Gymnasium in conjunction with the existing construction entrance onto Cambridge Street (between Gannett and Littauer).
- The buildings and utilities are being monitored 24/7 for conformance with specified vibration tolerances.
WORK HOURS:
- Monday through Friday, December 15-19, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Crews are planning to work on Saturday, December 13, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, installing formwork for the tower crane footing. Noise impacts from this operation
- As noted above, the erection of the tower crane is planned to take place on Saturday and Sunday, December 20-21 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. There will be a crane on site and multiple trailer deliveries for this operation. Noise impacts are expected from this operation.
