The following summarizes the work planned for the new FAS building for the week of September 15, 2025:
Dates: 9/15/25-9/20/25
PUBLIC WAY IMPACTS:
- The site fence will remain in its current location. Wayfinding signage has been installed around the site and at the Jefferson turnaround to assist vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, and delivery drivers.
EXTERIOR SITE ACTIVITIES:
- Treviicos will continue installing secant piles with two operational drill rigs. One drill rig will be working along the northern and western ends of the site in front of Austin Hall and towards Gannett Hall. The second drill rig will be working along the eastern and northern ends of the site in front of the Music Building and Austin Hall. The rigs will be moving around the site continuously. A mobile crane will be used to assist this operation. Concrete trucks will be on site for this operation as well as trailers to haul out the material from the drilling. Noise and possible vibration impacts can be expected from this operation.
- WL French will continue supporting the secant operation by loading and hauling soils throughout the week. Abutters can anticipate noise and possible vibration impacts from this operation.
- Carr-Dee Drilling and GeoComp will be on site to install the inclinometer casings on the north, east, and west ends of the site. Noise and possible vibration impacts can be expected from this operation.
- WL French will begin excavating along the interior of the secant pile wall and removing the concrete on the wall for the installation of bracing seats. Noise and possible vibration impacts can be anticipated from this operation.
OTHER IMPACTS:
- There will be multiple construction vehicles entering and existing the site. Equipment and trucking will continue using the construction entrance off Massachusetts Avenue between Gannett House and Hemenway Gymnasium in conjunction with the existing construction entrance onto Cambridge Street (between Gannett and Littauer).
- The buildings and utilities are being monitored 24/7 for conformance with specified vibration tolerances.

- Monday, 9/15/25, through Friday, 9/19/25, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- PLEASE NOTE – the contractor does plan to work on Saturday, 9/20/25, and 9/27/25, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
