About this Project
The Smith Campus Center 4-bank elevators are due for mechanical renewal. Please be advised that Harvard E&U and HRE have engaged Otis Elevator for this project. The contractor is set to begin the first phase of work and will mobilize on October 22, 2024.
To minimize disruption, one elevator will be upgraded at a time. Each elevator will take approximately 18 weeks.
Upon completion, this project will create a smoother experience by enhancing safety, improving performance and reliability, minimizing the unexpected, and boosting sustainability.
Project Impacts:
- General work hours will be 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday with the possibility of work taking place on some Saturdays.
- Due to the use of power tools, machinery, and construction equipment, some noise will be generated. Minor dust and vibrations may be detected as well.
- The contractor will work to minimize excessive noise impacts by completing excessive loud work before 8 a.m.
- They will also ensure dust is contained to the work area and surrounding areas remain clean and free of clutter and debris.
- To reduce impacts to the building, no more than one elevator will be taken offline at any given time.
- Appropriate signage/barriers will be in place to help guide building occupants around work zones.
- The contractor will use the freight elevator to haul materials in and out of the building.
We thank you for your patience and cooperation during this work. We will share important and notable milestones as we have it.
