Kresge Way and Extension of Thermal Pipes and Electrical Duct Bank

Overhead mast arm lights will be installed and thermal striping in the Harvard Business School lot will take place this summer.

Enterprise Research Campus (ERC)

  • The residential/hotel tower crane #1 closest to Western Avenue will be dismantled and removed from site this weekend on Saturday, July 27, starting at 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, July 28 from 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Eighteen truckloads of crane parts will be removed from the site entering at the Milestone Street gate and exiting through the Trotting Avenue gate.
  • Work is scheduled for Saturday, July 27, starting at 7 a.m. weather permitting.
    • The Treehouse Conference Center will be installing mass timber using a crane and lifts.  
    • Steel detailing will take place on the laboratory buildings.
  • Structural steel continues to be delivered and installed using the tower cranes at the east lab building. The west building is topped off at the second mechanical penthouse beyond level 7. The east building is at level 9.
  • Hoists (exterior temporary elevators) and loading docks are being installed at the residential and lab buildings. The mid-rise residential hoist is operating off Trotting Avenue.
  • Concrete and rebar operations are ongoing.
  • Mass timber installation continues at the Treehouse conference center.
  • The Treehouse continues making core connections.
  • Intermittent use of power trowels for concrete finishing and layout for concrete placement may take place after 6 p.m.
  • The mid-rise building has topped off.
  • Concrete continues up to level 16 on the high-rise residential buildings. 
  • The hotel steel is at level 17 with work continuing on the periscope, the cantilevered section of the building.
  • Utility tie-in work will continue to progress inside the perimeter of the lab buildings.
  • Three tower cranes are operating on site and are designed to move or “weathervane” in the wind when not operational.
  • The Residential/Hotel, Conference Center, and Laboratory mockups are located off Rotterdam Street at the Hague Street lot.
  • Drones will be in use weekly to monitor construction progress on site.
    • Drones will be operated by licensed pilots in accordance with Harvard University and the City of Boston regulations.
    • Flights are weather dependent and are scheduled on weekdays alternating weekly.
    • The next flight is scheduled for A flight is scheduled for Friday, August 2 at 11 a.m.

92 Seattle Street

  • Crews will be doing interior finish work on Saturday, July 27 starting at 7 a.m.
  • Mural painting work is underway on the 38 Travis Street building wall adjacent to Rena Path. 
  • Fencing will be coming down in the next two weeks.
  • Small concrete placements on stairs and sidewalk will take place next week.
  • Interior work is wrapping up.
  • Punch list activity is taking place.
  • Tenant fit out is underway.

175 North Harvard Street,100 South Campus Drive, 201 Western Avenue Lot Expansion

Construction is underway on the new American Repertory Theater (ART), which will be located at the front of the 175 North Harvard parcel with the new Harvard University affiliate housing building already under construction behind it.

  • On Saturday, July 27, crews will be installing pre-cast concrete stairs in the south core of the housing building.
  • Structural steel erection continues on the housing building. Steel beams are delivered on flat-bed trucks and offloaded and installed using the tower crane.
  • A tower crane is operating on site. At the end of each shift, the crane will be left in weathervane mode with safety lighting turned inward.
  • Thermal piping installation by a site contractor is underway through August in the northeast corner of the job site, which is fenced off. 

On the new American Repertory Theater (ART) work site, excavation will take place, leading into rebar and concrete placements.

  • The project continues to work on backfill operations, and duct bank work.
  • Soil is stockpiled on site and is being covered to minimize dust.

General 175 North Harvard Street

  • South Campus Drive is one way from Western Avenue to North Harvard Street, occasional closures may be necessary.
  • Vehicles will not be allowed to enter from the North Harvard Street entrance to South Campus Drive. 
  • Because concrete pours cannot be stopped mid-pour, some of these operations may occasionally go slightly later than 6 p.m. The contractor will make every effort to minimize this.
  • Wheel washing and street sweeping continues.
  • Deliveries are ongoing.
  • Site work hours are 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • The MBTA bus stop in front of the building has been relocated closer to South Campus Drive.

210 North Harvard Street

  • Permanent power feeds have been connected. Temporary power will be disconnected and the pole removed.

108 Holton Street

  • Sidewalk reconstruction work and asphalt paving will take place early next week.
  • The building has been demolished; crews are restoring the site.

Soldiers Field Garage Masonry Repairs and Office HVAC Replacement

  • Overhead protection/scaffolding has been installed on the entrance and exit side of the garage off Kresge Way as power washing and repairs take place from swing staging from the roof deck and some work from a lift.  When this work is underway pedestrian paths will shift.
  • Crews are finishing masonry repairs on the east and north side of the building near the alley adjacent to One Western Avenue and are working on the Western Avenue side.
  • A lift is being used to conduct this work from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each weekday with set up beginning at 7 a.m.
  • A summer HVAC replacement project continues in the parking garage office.
