Enterprise Research Campus (ERC)
Residential/Hotel
- Saturday, August 10 outside wall operations will take place as well as formwork on Level 18 of the high-rise with use of the crane. This work is weather dependent.
- Concrete decking and other operations continue.
- Hotel steel installation has topped off at level 17 and continues with work on the periscope, the cantilevered section of the building.
- The mid-rise residential building has topped off at their mechanical penthouse at level 9.
- The hoists (exterior construction elevators) and loading docks have been installed. The mid-rise hoist is operational.
- Work is progressing to level 18 of the high-rise building.
- Exterior sheathing is being installed on the residential buildings.
- Exterior curtain-wall panels are being installed at the hotel.
- MEP work is ongoing.
Laboratory and Office Buildings
- The tower crane jump, meaning to be built up to a new height, occurred this week.
- Workers will be on site for steel activities and for concrete preparation in the parking garage.
- Concrete operations continue with deck placements.
- The hoist is being installed on the southern side of the building.
- Structural steel continues to be delivered and installed on the east building with decking and detailing on the west building.
- The east building steel is up to level 8, and the west building has topped off finishing structural steel on the second mechanical penthouse above level 9.
- Utility installation is underway on the perimeter of the site.
- MEP work is ongoing.
Greenway
- Erection of the fence line and excavation of the fence line area is underway.
Treehouse Conference Center
- A crew will be installing mass timber this Saturday, August 10 starting at 7 a.m. A crane and lifts will be in use.
- Mass timber installation and protection work continues next week.
- Core connection work continues.
- Thermal activities for East Drive (Milestone Street) is underway.
Building Mock-Ups
- Punchlist work and other adjustments are intermittent on all five mockups.
General
•The site’s four tower cranes have been erected and are operational. They are designed to move or “weathervane” in the wind.
•The projects’ work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Saturdays as permitted by the City of Boston from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
•Intermittent use of power trowels for concrete finishing and layout for concrete placement may take place after 6 p.m.
•Drones will be in use bi-weekly to monitor construction progress on site.
- Drones will be operated by licensed pilots in accordance with Harvard University and the City of Boston regulations.
- Flights are weather dependent and are scheduled one weekday morning alternating weekly.
92 Seattle Street
Renovation is finishing up for reuse of this Harvard building.
- Crews are completing interior finish work.
- Tenant fit-out work is underway.
- Fire alarm testing will happen this week.
- A concrete pour will take place this week.
- Metal panel work will take place this weekend.
- The fence is scheduled to come down this week.
- Testing, balancing, and punch list will continue.
- Late night interior work with finishes is ongoing
- Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. with possible intermittent coordinated weekend work.
175 North Harvard Street, 100 South Campus Drive
Construction is underway on the new American Repertory Theater (ART), which will be located at the front of the 175 North Harvard parcel with the new Harvard University affiliate housing building already under construction behind it.
- The structural steel phase of the housing project is ongoing rising out of the ground this month. Decking will follow through December. Steel beams will be delivered on flat-bed trucks and will be offloaded and installed using the tower crane. Concrete decking and detailing will be taking place until mid-August. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades are on site working on under slab utilities.
- Bond is installing thermal piping in the Northeast corner of the job site until August 15.
- The tower crane will be in use into next year during normal working hours and will be placed in weathervane mode with safety lighting turned inward at the end of every shift.
- Wheel washing and street sweeping continues to ensure soil is not being tracked through the neighborhood streets.
There are no planned road closures on South Campus Drive this week. Only construction vehicles are permitted to turn onto South Campus Drive from North Harvard Street for safety reasons and to improve traffic flow. All other vehicles are directed to access South Campus Drive from Western Ave.
On the new American Repertory Theater (ART) work site, crews are excavating for the final sequence of foundation and backfill.
- This foundation work will continue into August. Concrete and rebar work will continue through August. Backfilling is ongoing in the substage area. Formwork and waterproofing will be ongoing this week. Tie-ins for the mat slab work take place this week.
- Building mock-ups to review design and constructability are underway across North Harvard Street. The curtain wall for the mock-up will be delivered in late August/early September.
- Because of the weather, the affiliate housing building crew may work on site this Saturday, August 10. They do have plans to work on Saturday, August 17, to progress with structural steel and decking work.
- The project’s regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays as permitted by the City of Boston from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
210 North Harvard Street
Permanent power feeds and removal of temp power lines are expected following inspections. Permanent fencing is being installed.
114 Western Ave
An office fit out project for the HALC suite on the 3rd floor is expected to mobilize and continue through October.
168 Western Ave
Enabling work is expected to begin 8/13.
Soldiers Field Garage Masonry Repairs and Office HVAC Replacement
- Masonry repairs continue at the Soldiers Field Park Garage. Crews have been operating from staging with overhead protection in place. A lift will be used to conduct this work from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays with set up beginning at 7 a.m.
- A summer HVAC replacement project continues in the parking garage office.
- Crews continue to power wash and repair the brick panels for the exterior garage. Swing staging from the roof deck has taken parking spaces.
