  • Thermal striping in the Harvard Business School lot will take place in the spring.

Utility Investigation at HBS

  • Restoration operations are scheduled for the test pit areas in and around Spangler Lot on Saturday, March 22.

Weekend Activities

  • On Saturday, March 22, exterior panel installation will take place on the midrise residential building with several boom lifts operating. The high rise will continue to be prepped for panel install and have roofing activity underway. Elevator and miscellaneous interior work with operational hoists is planned.
  • On Sunday, March 23, six workers in the high-rise elevator shaft will be working onsite. If the weather permits, a dozen workers on the roof of the high rise will be closing up openings and installing roofing. Hoists will be operational.

Weekday Activities

  • Exterior wall sheathing and panel clips are being installed on the high-rise building, and green exterior panels are being installed on the midrise building.
  • A suspended scaffolding deck, like under a bridge is set up, on the underside of the cantilever section at the hotel.
  • Storefront installation is underway on the ground floors.
  • Mast climber scaffolding and swing staging are set up on the high-rise building.
  • Elevators are being installed.
  • Other smaller concrete operations continue.
  • Roofing activities are underway.
  • MEP work is ongoing.
  • Framing and bathroom installation are taking place inside the buildings.
  • Eversource off-hours manhole cabling work inside the site may take place. A crane will be used to load large spools of wire a-top the two-level podium.

Weekend Activities

  • Saturday, March 22, boom lifts will be operating at level one storefront work. Roofing activities will be taking place on the east and west buildings. Interior drywall framing and mechanical work will be underway as well as general clean-up activities.

  • Underground gas tie-in lines are being installed inside the site.

Sewer Work on Western Ave.

  • The project team is working with the City to schedule nighttime sewer tie-in work in front of the Treehouse Conference Center site on Western Avenue which may begin Tuesday, March 25through Thursday, March 27 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. This work is planned to continue weeknights next week.
  • Between Hague and Milestone streets, pedestrians will shift at night to the Harvard Business School side of the road and cyclists will share the road during these activities.
  • A vehicular travel lane will be taken when crews are working in sewer manholes.
  • Signage will be in place and two police details will be scheduled.
  • Crews will also be patching the roadway at night.

Building Mock-Ups

  • Building mockups are on the corner of Hague and Rotterdam Streets.

Eversource Conduit Project

  • Eversource electrical cabling will be taking place in the future along Western
  • Avenue. This public utility work is not under the supervision of ERC.

General

  • The projects work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Saturdays/off hours as permitted by the City of Boston from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Hoists (exterior construction elevators) are operating on the residential, hotel and lab buildings.
  • Drones will be in use bi-weekly to monitor construction progress on site.
    • Drones will be operated by licensed pilots in accordance with Harvard University and the City of Boston regulations.
    • Weekly flights are weather dependent and are scheduled one weekday morning.
    • A drone is scheduled to fly Thursday, March 27 at 2:30 p.m.

Signage Project at SEC and Stadium Way

  • A signage installation project in front of the SEC building continues.
  • Barriers surround the work area.

North Allston Storm Drain Extension Project (NASDEP)
The NASDEP, a project designed for Boston Water and Sewer Commission (BWSC) to alleviate the existing inundated storm water systems in North Allston, continues with enabling work on the ERC site.

  • South of Science work between Rena Path and Rotterdam Street will continue this week.
  • Science Drive is narrowed through fall 2025 with new line striping indicating the lanes.
  • Backfilling operations for a temporary drainage bypass system will occur.
  • A vacuum truck may be necessary on site to clean out the dewatering tank.
  • A temporary drainage bypass system with an operator is running.
  • A dewatering system has been installed.  
  • A generator and motorized dewatering equipment operate on site.

92 Seattle Street

  • Rail installation and inspections are complete.
  • Interior fit out work is planned to take place after rail installation and COO is in hand.

175 North Harvard Street, 100 South Campus Drive 
The following is an overview of the work taking place at the 175 North Harvard construction site at the future location of the new Harvard University affiliate housing building and American Repertory Theatre (ART).

  • Concrete deck pours are largely complete. Small miscellaneous pours will occur once or twice a week as needed on the upper portion of the building along with stair placements. Spray on fireproofing is complete and the temporary heat and building wrap has been removed. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades continue to work throughout the site. Interior fit out, framing, and sheathing operations are underway. Window deliveries and window installation using boom lifts continue. Exterior wall sheathing continues on the south side of the low-rise building. Work continues on doors and ramps. Exterior swing staging and a scaffolding lift system are being set up on the buildings to assist with curtainwall installation. Exterior brickwork continues.
  • During the week of March 24, South Campus Drive will need to be closed periodically between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to support critical deliveries that need to use the road for access. The contractor will also need to shut down S. Campus Drive for one day next week for crane access needed to set up the exterior hoists being used for masonry. The exact day has not yet been determined.
  • When South Campus Drive needs to be closed, all traffic leaving the Continuum and Trader Joe’s parking garage will be instructed to make a right turn only out of the garage. South Campus Drive will be open to traffic each day after 5 p.m. and on Sunday. Signage will be provided to divert traffic as needed, and police details will be on site to provide assistance. The signage will be covered after the end of each shift so vehicles can use South Campus Drive.
  • Wheel washing and street sweeping continue to ensure soil is not being tracked through the neighborhood streets.
  • On the new American Repertory Theater (ART) work site, crews are installing a stormwater system. The project has a crane in place to install mass timber (engineered wood products known for their strength, durability, versatility and sustainability) for the next several months. Daily wood deliveries are underway. A police detail is assigned to North Harvard Street/South Campus Drive to help facilitate mass timber trailer deliveries. Wood protection trades and mechanical systems installation are beginning as mass timber gets installed. Columns, beams, and trusses are being installed.
  • Adjustments continue on the ART building mock-up to review design and constructability across North Harvard Street.
  • Work will be taking place at the affiliate housing building site on Saturdays, March 22, and March 29, to do some exterior wall sheathing, welding, and masonry work. The crew at the ART project will be installing mass timber on Saturday, March 22, during regular work hours.
  • The project’s regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Saturdays as permitted by the City of Boston from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

210 North Harvard Street

  • Eversource or Verizon will remove an old pole and power line.
  • The bakery Sofra is open. 

168 Western Ave

  • Interior and roofing work continues.
  • The Swiss Bakers bakery operation is temporarily relocated to 9 Travis Street while their space gets renovated.

114 Western Ave

  • A third-floor suite fit-out for minor interior work has started and will continue through March.
  • Work hours for this project are 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.
