Weekend Activities
- On Saturday, June 28, the site will have several activities underway. Exterior green panel installation and activity will take place on the midrise and high-rise residential buildings with several boom lifts operating including the mid-rise hoist infill area. Paver work will be taking place on the east and south decks. Elevator and miscellaneous interior work is ongoing in all three buildings.
- On Sunday, June 29, eight workers will be inside the hotel and high-rise building elevator shafts. Twelve workers will be onsite to conduct cleaning operations in the high-rise and mid-rise buildings. Twelve workers will be on site for drywall exterior ground floor facade activities on the southwest corner, boom lift, studs and boards at main entrance of high-rise. Eight workers will be conducting interior taping. It is possible that workers will be on swing staging on the high-rise of the south and east sides of the building. Three workers will begin removal of the mast climbers on the south side of the high-rise.
Weekday/Night Activities
- Fire alarm testing will begin Friday at 9 a.m. and may continue into Saturday morning.
- Crews are scheduled to work in the evenings at the high-rise, exterior façade from 3 to 11 p.m. on swing staging with portable light towers pointed at the building. Some minor panel finish work may take place at the mid rise.
- On site loading dock evening activity is from 3 to 11 p.m.
- Podium deck activities will occur from 11 p.m. – 7 a.m., including this Friday night into Saturday morning.
- Exterior wall sheathing, panel clips and green exterior panels are being installed on the residential buildings.
- At the high rise, the hoist has been removed and infill work is underway.
- Ground floor work is underway on all three buildings, including soffit panel installation using lifts at the hotel.
- Mast climber scaffolding and swing staging are set up on the high-rise building.
- Elevators are being installed.
- Other concrete operations continue.
- Some roofing activities continue.
- MEP work is ongoing.
- Framing, drywall and bathroom installation are taking place inside the buildings.

Weekend Activities
- On Saturday, June 28, exterior work on the first floor and roofing activity, weather permitting, will be underway. Interior drywall, elevator work and MEP work in the penthouse as well as general clean-up activities will occur. Demolition of the loading dock will take place.
- No work is planned for Sunday, June 29.

- A crane is on site for removal of the hoist, followed by dismantle of the loading dock.
- The loading dock will begin to be demolished.
- Boom lifts are active around the perimeter of the buildings.
- Level 1 soffit and exterior work is underway.

- Work includes underground piping to the cistern water tank on the west side of the site, flooring, drywall, elevator and miscellaneous interior work including MEP activity on Saturday, June 28.
- On Sunday, June 29, eight to ten electricians will be connecting air handlers on the roof.

- A small crew is scheduled to work on the facade from 3 to 11 p.m. using lifts.
- Wood trim panels and other façade installation continue.
- Duct bank excavation and install is occurring.
- Framing and drywall continue.

Weekend Activities
- On Saturday, June 28, the crews will be on Trotting Ave. installing gravel for curbing and sidewalks, as well as loading dock work.
Weekday/Night Activities
- Daytime work includes sidewalks, curbing, paver install near the buildings. Piping will begin to be installed along Milestone St.
- Evening crews will be prepping for the bike lane, curbing, railings, trash receptacles from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. All work will be contained within the site.
Building Mock-Ups
- Building mockups are on the corner of Hague and Rotterdam Streets.
- A pedestrian pathway from the Hague Street lot to the street will be installed before the July 4 holiday.
Eversource Conduit Project
- Eversource electrical cabling continues along Western Avenue. This public utility work is not under the supervision of ERC.
General
- The projects work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Saturdays/Sundays/off hours as permitted by the City of Boston from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Drones will be in use bi-weekly to monitor construction progress on site.
- Drones will be operated by licensed pilots in accordance with Harvard University and the City of Boston regulations.
- Weekly flights are weather dependent and are scheduled one weekday morning.
- A drone is scheduled to fly on Thursday, June 26, at 3 p.m.
North Allston Storm Drain Extension Project (NASDEP)
The NASDEP, a project designed for Boston Water and Sewer Commission (BWSC) to alleviate the existing inundated storm water systems in North Allston, continues with enabling work on the ERC site.
- South of Science work between Rena Path and Rotterdam Street will continue this week.
- Science Drive is narrowed into fall 2025 with new line striping indicating the lanes.
- Slide rail deliveries are expected to prepare for box culvert activity.
- Structure and box culvert activity continues. A crane on site will be needed for box culvert activity.
- Backfilling operations intermittently occur.
- Truck traffic will increase to load in material.
- A temporary drainage bypass system with an operator is running.
- A generator and motorized dewatering equipment operate on site.
92 Seattle Street
- Project has received a COO.
- Some roof activity may be needed after utility coordination.
- Review of the knee wall mock-up for the west wall repair is underway with a schedule to follow.
- All work is targeting completion in four weeks.
175 North Harvard Street, 100 South Campus Drive
The following is an overview of the work taking place at the 175 North Harvard construction site at the future location of the new Harvard University affiliate housing building and American Repertory Theatre (ART).
- Exterior swing staging and a scaffolding lift system are set up on the buildings to assist with curtainwall installation. Multiple swing stages are in place around the job site. Brick work is ongoing on the courtyard and west side of the building and brick deliveries have increased. An additional crane will arrive in July on the west side of the building to support brick installation. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades continue work on multiple levels. Interior fit outs and framing continues. Miscellaneous deliveries to the hoist will continue. Elevator installation is ongoing in the north tower. Drywall work continues. A crane is on site supporting work on the north tower. There is one month of work left for window sheathing and then swing staging will be back to install the roof on the 14th story. Small utilities will start soon. Off-hour sheet rock deliveries will start at 3 p.m. and will go to 6 p.m. three times per week. Telecom duct bank installation has started. Window installation is ongoing. Multiple masonry crews will soon be working on all sides of the building,
- Next week, the week of June 30, excluding Saturday, Sunday, and the 4th of July, the contractor will need to close South Campus Drive periodically between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. South Campus Drive will be open to traffic each day after 5 p.m.
- The contractor may need to utilize one lane of Ivy Lane in front of the project gate to unload materials. Access to Ivy Lane for the general public and the Continuum, Sloane’s, and Trader Joe’s deliveries will be a priority. If necessary, construction delivery vehicles will be diverted until they can unload in a way that does not impede traffic on Ivy Lane.
- As always, when South Campus Drive is closed, all traffic leaving the Continuum and Trader Joe’s parking garage will be instructed to make a right turn only out of the garage. Signage will be provided to divert traffic as needed, and police details will be on site to provide assistance. The signage will be covered after the end of each shift so vehicles can use South Campus Drive.
- A light pole has been removed along the walking path adjacent to McCurdy Track along South Campus Drive to provide truck turn radius access for trailers.
- Wheel washing and street sweeping continue to ensure soil is not being tracked through the neighborhood streets.
- On the new American Repertory Theater (ART) work site, mass timber installation continues along with wood deliveries. Installation continues on the front section of the building closest to North Harvard Street along with columns, beams, and wall panels. Stairs are being installed in the section of the building closest to McCurdy Track. Work will shift to include the mid-section of the building by mid-July. Masonry work is underway. Additional trades are on site for block work, roof level parapet work, and slab on deck pours. Mechanical equipment will be on site starting on Monday, June 30, after the first roof section is weather tight. Roofing work on west stage fly tower started last week.
- Steel detailing continues. A police detail is assigned to North Harvard Street/South Campus Drive to help facilitate mass timber trailer deliveries. Wood protection trades and mechanical systems installation continues as mass timber gets installed. Columns, beams, trusses, stairs, wall panels, beams, and flooring have been installed in two sections of the new building.
- Drones are flying over the site on a bi-weekly basis to capture project progress.
- Periodic work will take place on the ART building mock-up to review design and constructability across North Harvard Street. Steel will be on site June 30 and July 1, and a crane will be in the area along with a steel trailer. Detailing will continue through July 11.
- Work will be taking place at the affiliate housing building on Saturday, June 28, to do some fireproofing, exterior wall sheathing, window sealants, and interior framing, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work, and masonry. This work is dependent on weather. Ther is no work planned on the affiliate housing site on Saturday, July 5.
- A crew at the ART project will be working on mass timber on Saturday, June 28.
- Both job sites are closed on Friday, July 4, for the holiday.
- As a component of Harvard’s public benefit commitments with the City of Boston, Harvard University Housing is working with Cambridge Landscaping to replace approximately 60 dead trees throughout Smith Field, adjacent to the new affiliate housing building. Several of those trees abut South Campus Drive adjacent to the Continuum. The work began on Tuesday, May 27, and is expected to be finished in about one week. The project scope also includes installation of a new accessible ramp between South Campus Drive and the park, which is in the approvals process.
- The project’s regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Saturdays as permitted by the City of Boston from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Off-hours water management may be needed for the ART mass timber roofs and structures during and after rain events.
210 North Harvard Street
- Eversource or Verizon will remove an old pole and power line.
- The bakery Sofra is open.
168 Western Ave
- National Grid has completed the gas pipe connection and will replace the asphalt with concrete on the sidewalk.
- An air handler replacement is needed on the roof. A crane will be on site to assist with this work.
- Punch list and inspections are underway.
- All the Swiss Bakers kitchen equipment from 9 Travis Street to 168 Western has been relocated.
