Community Notice October 12, 2023

Dear Neighbors:

Prior to the start of demolition at 175 North Harvard Street, the contractor needs to perform some additional utility work in North Harvard Street in front of the building.

This work, which includes excavating in the road and cutting and capping a sewer main, will take place on weeknights from Thursday, October 12, through at least Tuesday, October 17. Because the City of Boston will only permit this work off-hours at night, the designated work hours are 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.

In addition to the presence of work crews on site, neighbors can anticipate some noise due to the construction equipment necessary to complete this utility work. Every effort will be made to minimize the noise impact of these construction activities on the surrounding area.

During the work, vehicles and bicycles will be detoured to Academic Way and Western Ave and pedestrians will be detoured to the opposite side of the street. Police details have been requested to support these logistics.

As a reminder, the upcoming demolition phase of this project, which is scheduled to begin later this month, will include the full dismantling and removal of the existing building. After demolition is complete at the end of November, neighbors can expect a steady stream of activity on site as additional utility and enabling work will be taking place once the demolition and debris removal process is complete.
