The Western Avenue utility crossing roadway work is finalized and is extending onto Kresge Way. This work will continue into fall 2023 and is being coordinated with University operations.
Kresge Way Temporary Relocation
As part of Harvard’s infrastructure improvements in Allston, the University has extended thermal piping and electrical/telecommunications duct banks from the District Energy Facility across Western Avenue to Kresge Way, the main driveway into the HBS campus. An interim drive further west off Western Avenue has replaced the original drive.
Western Avenue Utility Crossing
The utility crossing at Western Avenue is complete. Final restoration will be coordinated with the completion of the Kresge Way thermals in December.
Kresge Way and Extension of Thermal Pipes and Electrical Duct Bank
- Installation of piping tees and valves will be completed.
- Crews will be backfilling and continuing electric duct bank work.
- Final restoration is targeted for mid-December.
- A section of Kresge Way has shifted west away from the Soldier’s Field Garage.
- An interim temporary parking attendant’s booth on the shifted section of Kresge Way is operational.
- During project hours, Monday through Friday from 7AM to 3PM (at times may extend to 6PM), the work will generate noise due to the presence of work crews and the use of construction equipment, including a vacuum truck.
- There will be no work on Friday, November 24th.
- Crews plan to work Saturday December 2nd.
Enterprise Research Campus (ERC)
- The ERC development team continues bulk excavation of the Residential/Hotel and Treehouse Conference Center sites.
- Trucks may begin lining up at 6:30AM however, work will not begin until 7AM.
- The Conference Center site is hauling soil by intermodal trucks to the rail.
- A private haul road is used to transport the soil to Beacon Park Yard.
- There will be work this Saturday, November 25th, and Sunday, November 26th.
- The Residential/Hotel site plans to erect its second tower crane.
- Extended work hours and an early start of 5AM Saturday and 7AM Sunday are needed for this operation.
- The Residential/Hotel site plans to erect its second tower crane.
- Steel work at the Conference Center mockups will be ongoing with intermediate steel deliveries on Rotterdam Street.
- The Laboratory site is planning for their second mat slab placement on December 2nd.
- A 5AM start is needed to support this operation.
- The Residential/Hotel site has erected their first of two tower cranes, which is designed to move or “weathervane” in the wind when not operational.
- Concrete and rebar operations are ongoing at the Residential/Hotel, Conference Center, and Laboratory sites.
92 Seattle Street
- Street signage is in place to help prevent construction vehicles from cutting through the Allston neighborhood.
- Work under containment has been completed.
- Rebar delivery and concrete work are ongoing.
- Waterline work is underway on the Travis Street side of the building.
175 North Harvard Street
- Trucking to remove stockpiled soil will begin Friday, November 24th and continue through Wednesday, November 29th.
- The MBTA bus stop in front of the building has been relocated closer to South Campus Drive.
100 South Campus Drive
- South Campus Drive road diversion is in place and operational.
- During this enabling work a rainwater retention system will be installed.
- Ongoing excavation and prefab fusion for thermal piping installation.
- Pile driving operations will continue.
- Site work hours are 7AM-4PM.
210 North Harvard Street
- Landlord construction has been completed.
- Tenant buildout will continue into June 2024.
114 Western Avenue
- Ongoing solar panel installation.
- This project will last approximately two months.
- Work hours are 7AM-3:30PM.
