The Western Avenue utility crossing roadway work is finalized and is extending onto Kresge Way. This work will continue into fall 2023 and is being coordinated with University operations.
Kresge Way Temporary Relocation
As part of Harvard’s infrastructure improvements in Allston, the University has extended thermal piping and electrical/telecommunications duct banks from the District Energy Facility across Western Avenue to Kresge Way, the main driveway into the HBS campus. An interim drive further west off Western Avenue has replaced the original drive.
Western Avenue Utility Crossing
The utility crossing at Western Avenue is complete. Final restoration will be coordinated with the completion of the Kresge Way thermals in November.
Kresge Way and Extension of Thermal Pipes and Electrical Duct Bank
- Ongoing thermal piping and fusion work planned into November.
- A section of Kresge Way has shifted west away from the Soldier’s Field Garage.
- An interim temporary parking attendant’s booth on the shifted section of Kresge Way is operational.
- During project hours, Monday through Friday from 7AM to 3PM (at times may extend to 6PM), the work will generate noise due to the presence of work crews and the use of construction equipment, including a vacuum truck.
Enterprise Research Campus (ERC)
- The ERC development team continues bulk excavation of the Residential/Hotel and Laboratory sites.
- Trucks may begin lining up at 6:30am however, work will not begin until 7:00am.
- The Treehouse Conference Center has paused their excavation operations.
- This will resume November 8th.
- There will be work this Saturday, October 28th.
- The Residential/Hotel site will be excavating.
- All work will take place within their site.
- At the Laboratory site crews will be making street repairs on Axel Drive and Milestone Street.
- The Residential/Hotel site will be excavating.
- Construction will begin at the Residential/Hotel mockups on Monday, October 30th.
- The Residential/Hotel site has erected their first of two tower cranes, which is designed to move or “weathervane” in the wind when not operational.
- Concrete operations are ongoing at the Residential/Hotel and Laboratory sites.
92 Seattle Street
- Street signage is in place to help prevent construction vehicles from cutting through the Allston neighborhood.
- A water line tie in will accrue on Travis Street on Monday, October 30th.
- Slab and soil removal work continues.
- Ongoing preparation work for the first concrete pour to take place early November.
175 North Harvard Street
- Exterior masonry demolition has been completed.
- Electrical and plumbing utilities are being shut off in preparation for the building demolition.
- The building demolition is planned to start the week of October 30th.
- Six additional trailers will arrive at the field office location at the 201 Western Avenue lot on November 6th and 7th.
- The MBTA bus stop in front of the building has been relocated closer to South Campus Drive.
100 South Campus Drive
- A road diversion is scheduled to start November 6th to support early enabling work for the project.
- During this enabling work a rainwater retention system will be installed.
210 North Harvard Street
- Landlord construction has been completed.
- Tenant buildout will continue into June 2024.
