175 North Harvard Street Project Construction Impacts Update
• The job site will be closed on New Year’s Day, Monday, January 1.
• Project enabling activities continue through January in preparation for building construction.
o Building demolition activities are substantially complete.
o The installation of sheet piles using a vibratory hammer will be ongoing for several weeks. Soil excavation activities including trucking from the site are ongoing.
o These types of activities, while safe, do generate noise and may also generate some perceptible vibrations during regular work hours between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Third-party engineers continue to monitor the dust, noise, and vibration monitors that are positioned around the work site to ensure construction activities remain within safe and acceptable levels.
• The contractor is scheduled to remove large equipment during the second week of January. This will need to take place between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. as equipment of this size is only allowed on the roadways between these hours.
• Thermal piping installation work is ongoing with anticipated completion planned for early January 2024.
• The project’s regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Some work on Saturdays may be necessary as permitted by the City of Boston from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
