175 North Harvard Street Project Construction Impacts Update

The contractor continues to dismantle the building and is currently working to remove the building’s foundation. This demolition work is expected to be complete by the end of next week. Materials continue to be sorted on site and trucked away from the job site as well. Due to the nature of the work and the equipment needed to support this work, noise can be expected during regular work hours between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

• Project enabling activities will continue in November and through January followed by the anticipated start of building construction.
• As previously noted, enabling activities include pile driving and vibrating sheet piles into the ground in preparation for building construction.
• Pile driving will begin on Friday, November 17. This work will take place Monday through Friday, will be monitored for noise and vibrations, and is expected to last about five (5) days.
• During the first week of December, work will begin to install sheet piles using a vibratory hammer. Work will include excavation followed a few days later by the sheet pile installation. This work is expected to take approximately four to six weeks.
• Please note that these types of activities, while safe, do generate noise and may also generate some perceptible vibrations.
•The project has positioned dust, noise, and vibration monitors around the work site, and they are continually checked by third-party engineers to ensure construction activities remain within safe and acceptable levels.
•Electrical work in the Ivy Lane sidewalk is complete the sidewalk is reopened. Some areas will remain coned off in preparation for paver installation.
•Subsurface drainage installation will continue on South Campus Drive. A section of South Campus Drive has been temporarily diverted to allow for this utility work. This diversion has modified vehicular traffic routes and pedestrian crossings and will be in place for approximately one month. The contractor is targeting to have South Campus Drive re-opened by December 1.
•Piping installation work will start in late November. Anticipated completion is late December 2023.
•The work site will be closed on Thursday, November 23, for the Thanksgiving Day holiday. The site will be open and active on Friday, November 24,
•Regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Some work on Saturdays may be necessary as permitted by the City of Boston also from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
